What is there to say about a love affair with the Atlantic? Or any ocean for that matter.
I remember a family vacation once to St. Martin just after a hurricane. At best I may have been 10 yrs old. The waters were still surging. I watched in awe as I saw a boogie boarder get swept up into a wave. It towered up by the trees, as if the ocean stood up, reach down and plucked him from the edge. He spun around in the curl, like watching clothes on spin cycle and then he came crashing down.
I threw all warnings from my parents to stay out of the water. The ocean called. I had to dive in.
Still jpegs through a few more shoots, but editing with Light room. Over doing it maybe? Not sure yet. Think this was the first time playing with the camera in manual mode. A few are just very hohum in the dof department, but it's hard not to get lost looking at the waves. Massive power in the ocean last March!
Been shooting and learning a bit, so it's hard to not just skip forward to better photos, but a plan is a plan.
This is the start of a hobby photo project to learn to use my camera and hopefully hone some skills in on surf & macro nature photography. Each time I take the camera out, I'll post 3 photos, good or bad, with the hope that a year from now I can look back and see some progression. I'm back tracking to the first times out to keep tabs from the start. Immer besser.
