I stayed with friends in Kyoto in a traditional Japanese home. Tatami mats on floors and sliding wood and paper doors ( pictured here a guest room). When they have a special event they wear kimonos and enjoy Japanese tea ceremony. We stayed in this morning and they shared the traditions. Learning to wear kimono ( more layers, parts to Obi and ties than I thought) and the rituals of the tea ceremony were insights into the wonderfully rich world of Japanese culture.
