You could say things are getting pretty creative in the kitchen! We picked up some Bulgur the other day and besides being really tasty, it’s got a ton of nutrition! (You can see just SOME of the benefits on the next page) Aside from that, my boyfriend put it into this glass jar with cooking instructions on the back and it got me thinking. Not only is it a great idea to put items like this in a jar, if you see them, you’ll use them. But it got me thinking about bulk shopping. Now that we’ve made the switch to a whole foods plant based diet, it means we will shop in the bulk sections more frequently, which means we can move beyond store packaging and use our own reusable mesh bags! So I just ordered a bunch of reusable bulk bags for produce and grains. It looks like not only are we going to be kinder to our bodies with this new lifestyle, but it’s really easy to avoid buying prepackaged food. Now obviously not everything we consume can be package free but I think it’s a big step in the right direction! I love when a positive change ripples into another positive change. Who knows what that positive change will ripple into! Making the most of another super early morning with big bowls of fruity oatmeal on the porch. (And real life: My oldest initially refused to have anything to do with this, but I put a little in a bowl on her plate with her requested toast, I asked her to try it but didn’t push too hard, and she wound up eating all of it...and gave me a hug for making such yummy oatmeal. So sometimes that can happen🤷‍♀️!) 👉🏻Bring 2 cups rolled oats, 1/2 cup dried blueberries, 1/2 cup sliced almonds and 5 cups water to a simmer over medium heat in a medium not. Simmer, stirring often until the oats soften and the water is absorbed, about 8-10 minutes. Stir in 1 cup fresh blueberries (I wait to add them so they stay whole which is just a personal preference!), 1 tsp cinnamon and 1 tsp vanilla extract. Cover, turn off heat, and let sit about 5 minutes. Serve with milk and assorted toppings!
