I choose to wear suits; they aren’t required. What they are is a uniform—and I love a good uniform. So much so that I would like one I could play tennis in, walk the dog in, study in, or simply hang out in. Being a student and considering my proclivity for luxurious Italian fabrics with thread counts beyond the speed limit of the German Autobahn, I have to make with “conventional” attire all too often. Fortunately, there is sport attire that is not made of Italian fabrics that breaks the bank but that still looks royal and feels sumptuous; the white loosely knit piqué cotton polo from Lacoste. I repeat: White! All other colours do not belong on the court, they belong in the court. And if you doubt this, just ask John McEnroe—You are bound to lose the argument.
