And this about sums it up. The truth is it was a pretty hard ride. There were no actual panic moments, as it was a 120km trip, but we did have to rush in order to get home while there was light outside.
During the ride, somewhere around the middle of the return leg, @lulutugeller said she wasn't ready for this. There were moments when it felt like the ride would never end and I'm not exagerating if I said they were close to agony. But the last 20km became quick again.
The truth is we've gotten out of shape, since we have only just resumed the long rides. At least I have my daily 25km commute to keep me in shape, but today's ride summed my weekly total. So it was still hard.
But, as I'm sat in bed and she's in the shower, since we're home now, I guess we were ready, after all. It's just that it's hard each time.
Go ride. Be it together or alone, for 5 or 50 or 500miles, be it flat out or at a leisurely pace, just get on your bikes and do it. You'll thank yourselves later.
