🍃SCD diet: Within this diet protocol it is recommended to consume simple sugars, and to be avoiding all complex sugars. The reason being is that simple sugars will be absorbed directly into the blood stream. This process does not require digesting enzymes to break them down within the gut. These types of foods require enzymes to break down the complex sugar molecules. As complex sugars process takes longer to break down, they will make their way through the small intestines, and into the large intestines where the Firmicute species reside. This will then lead to Firmicutes to have a source of sugar to feed on. Other things to look out for are things like dairy which can contain live cultures within them. Consuming dairy products whilst trying to starve off Firmicutes could possibly add more Firmicutes into the large intestine due to bugs like lactobacillus
