These three pictures show the CONSTANT fucking struggle of #weightoss ......on the left....my world was going great....I was on my way to a promising career in law enforcement, I fell in love and I was laser #focused on my #nutrition and body. Essentially I was 100% unstoppable!!👊🏼👊🏼👊🏼

In just one month....my world fell apart.... I was rejected from every agency I applied to for reasons I wasn't told, I ruptured a disc in my spine and the love of my life LEFT me 3 days before I went under the knife.😔😢💔🖤

I fell into an opiate induced haze (6-8 oxys, 10-12 percs, 2000-3000mgs of methocarbonal, 2-3 xanax....all in a days time) of pain, confusion and #depression 🤢🤒🤕 .....I had no answers whatsoever.... how could everything be so right and then fall apart in the matter of a month?!😭😭😭

I had no answers....so I decided to take a nap. I kissed my dog, said he'd love living with my parents and then took an entire prescription of pain killers.....I crawled in bed and went to sleep....only problem was....I woke up 3 days later.🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

I've had moments of 🔥 inside my body....followed by moments of complete shame, hate and weakness. I almost started #drinking again....after 8 years of #sobriety .....i met another woman....didn't work either...and I'm glad it didn't, but it still made me believe I was a failure.

What is wrong with me? Why the fuck can't my fairy tale reveal itself? Are fairy tales even fucking real?!

The point I'm making is that no matter what life throws at you, you must never neglect your body....because that is truly the only thing you have 💯% control over. This is a #journey and there will be bumps, pot holes and flat tires.....but don't ever get take the fucking off ramp....💯💯💯

Like with anything new you are attempting to do, slow progress can be discouraging but be consistent and trust the process. Nothing worth having is achieved over night. And remember that what you focus on grows. Where, how much, and how often you focus your effort and attention on something determines your outcome- whether it be a fitness goal, a skill or a relationship. Where you put your time, money, effort and attention is where your priorities lie. What choices are you making that are keeping you where you are? If you aren't seeing the outcomes you want, it's time to look at what you are prioritizing in your life. If you really want x, y and z change some things to make it happen for you. Prioritize and then learn to be patient.🌼

These 2 or 3 counting Friday can mess everything up!! Remember inorder to gain 1 unnecessary pound you need you eat 3500 kcal. And 3500 kcal are 2 meals at a fast food. How come?? . .
A meal at a fast food place has the worse ingredients, full of sugars, hydrogenated oils and preservatives. Things you don't need in your digestive system! Sorry to disappoint you guys! .

There is a reason you will never see me use the word “toned” unquoted. The average Joe Schmo misuses this word often. Especially those at the local gym. The reason is because it isn’t an actual scientific result or measure. In other words, it has many different definitions depending on the person using it. It is a large misconception that lifting light weights for high reps can “tone” a muscle. This is absolute hogwash. A muscle has the ability to either get bigger or smaller. That is it.

Now most people who use the word “tone” are really referring to the want for less fat of a specific part of their body and more definition from a specific muscle to show through their skin. Meaning you need to get leaner overall (to make the muscle more evident) and to build some muscle (to provide shape of the said area). As previously mentioned, performing high repetition sets does not accomplish this goal. In fact, according to research [1], moderate to heavy weight training provides a more effective stimulus for muscle growth with less reps needed to be performed. And taking reps to failure, or near, seems to be a must if you want muscle growth to occur with a low load high repetition regimen [2].

Here is how you “tone”:

Step 1: Reduce body fat. If you want a “toned” bodypart, you need to reduce total body fat. This will lead to less fat overall. Don’t even get me started on bodyfat spot reduction.

Step 2: Maintain or build on top of the current muscle you have. Preventing muscle loss should be priority in this process.

Congrats, you are “toned”. Now, whether your goal was to look similar to Brad Pitt in Fight Club or to have Sarah Jessica Parker’s arms, you did it. And to note, Brad Pitts routine in that movie had quite a bit of training volume per muscle. His training was similar to an aspiring bodybuilders.
