In an industry where the number one saying is "calories in vs. calories out", people are often led in the wrong direction when it comes to developing a healthy mindset! People look at calories in more of a negative view:
1️⃣ They Will Get You Fat If You Don't Watch Out - Eat them with caution!
2️⃣ A Calorie Is A Calorie No Matter Where It's From - So really, it doesn't matter what you eat in the end!
3️⃣ You Need To Count Every Single One - Because how else will you know if you're overeating?
This is a common perception of calories is negative and it leads to a wrong mindset when it comes to eating whole healthy food! Rather, calories should be looked at as:
1️⃣ Simply A Unit Of Energy - They are nothing more and they are nothing less! They provide your body with energy. If you have too much, your body will reserve some for later and if you don't get enough it will use stored energy!
2️⃣ Where They Come From Does Matter - Maybe they are all a unit of energy, but your body will treat 250 calories from a chocolate bar and 250 calories from fruit quite differently as the latter also has a ton of fiber, water, and nutrients which all keep you fuller for longer!
3️⃣ You Should Be Calorie Aware - As opposed to counting every single one, just be more aware that things like veggies and fruits are more high-volume foods than things like oils! You can have higher volumes of fruits and veggies because they are lower in calories!
Don't fear them and don't over complicate calories! They are nothing more than a unit of energy you need to survive! If you feed yourself whole, unprocessed natural foods and don't stuff yourself, you're set to achieve all your goals!
