❌ WHY YOU NEED TO STOP RELYING ON THE SCALE FOR PROGRESS ❌

All too often I have clients or other people tell me they're disappointed with their progress because they've 'only lost X amount of pounds' and they think this correlates with poor fat loss.

DO NOT MAKE THIS MISTAKE!! 🤔

There are way too many factors involved that can alter your weight at any given time - the weight of clothes you're wearing, amount of food and liquid in your body, water retention caused by a myriad of factors including dietary habits, taking certain common medications such as NSAID or aspirin, changes in blood pressure, heart or kidney complications, environmental conditions, hormones and lifestyle among others 😦

A females menstrual cycle can also cause significant changes in weight due to fluid retention, as can pregnancy! 👶

So the scale may tell you you've not lose weight in 3 weeks or that you've gained 2lbs overnight - TAKE THESE VALUES WITH A PINCH OF SALT (pun intended) 😂

Taking progress pictures, using the mirror to track progress, using a tape measure or even using clothes and the way they fit is a much better indicator of progress - while the scale is an excellent secondary method to determine a trend (once weekly weigh-in at exactly the same time and under the same conditions) do not allow what the scale says to negatively affect your mood and motivation 🙏
