Last week we got better at pulling mechanics & this week our focus is on pushing mechanics.

Our lead put together a video of PRESSING in a variety of pushup positions to show a few things:
.
🔹Each represents a different level of strength but all have a few very common traits:
1. The hollow body is present in each
2. The triceps move back (not out).
3. The body is “solid” (i.e.: tight glutes, core, extended toes etc)
….
🔹As a coach/athlete you want to follow through on the 1st foundation before laying another “brick” down. If you haven’t mastered the strength & body position in the 1st step, there will be glaring holes when you go to do more complicated “pushups”

🔹Most athletes who complain about only being able to do a few hspu in a row have a weakness in the stage before. If you are frustrated with hspu, take a hard look at how well your “tricep” pushup looks compared to the ones in the video.

Day ☝🏼 recap!

What would have been a nightmare day for me in years past was actually my favorite day of competition since starting Crossfit!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Event 1 was by far the most fun event I’ve competed in. The adrenaline and rush of racing, not knowing what could happen. Sure it was dangerous, but that’s part of the sport! Last year I got dead last in the bike event so I’m super happy with finishing 28th! Improvement :)

Event 2, wasn’t a PR.. but long straps definitely play a factor in high rep muscle ups. Really had no plan going into it other than making sure i don’t completely blow up on my first set. Probably should have pushed a bit harder, but can’t complain with a 6th place finish. Best finish in an individual event at the @crossfitgames yet!

Event 3 I wanted to make sure I didn’t push too hard to be wrecked for the whole weekend. Don’t think i could have deadlifted or squatted 10 more pounds more on either lift.. always super hesitant with pulling heavy deadlifts, so I’m really happy i didn’t feel my back at all!

Event 4, I don’t think I would have rowed a marathon even if someone paid me.. but it’s cool to say that we all have now! I’m SO happy with how it went. Working with @sarahendershot over the years and @hinshaw363 leading up to this year I was confident but honestly didn’t think i was going to be in the top 20. Super long endurance events have always been a weakness of mine.. but seeing an improvement this big in a year is really awesome. Couldn’t be happier!

Really excited for the weekend, can’t walk without limping today, lol, but we have today off 🙏🏼 Opening ceremonies tonight and then an athlete meet and greet, stop by and say hi if you’re here!
