I got to celebrate Veterans Day early with a trip to Oklahoma to spend time with people I care for deeply, including Barb, Carol and Tresa. I also have all the “proud to be an American” feels this week and got teary when I saw my new friend @anitamboud became a citizen and what I love this week. 🍒Go to www.anneelizabethrd.com/blog and share in my crazy, delicious and random #hellyeah adventures. 🍒

Every year at my work, we have a free breakfast honoring our veterans. We take out all the produce aisle, put up tons of tables and welcome all the men and women who served our country from our community. We also have a map of the world and have each Veteran place a star on the location of where they served. All of this is a very small token of our appreciation to these special people, many of which do not know what a difference they have truly made in the freedom we have in this country.
We all can make a daily difference. We don’t have to wait for one day a year like Veterans Day or the upcoming holidays. We all can do our part by being good people, helping others, doing something you believe in and being respectful in the process. It’s time to put your star on the map and make a difference. •

I think doubt is one of the hardest parts of doing anything worth doing, and as I have experienced recently, Homeschool is not immune to that doubt. Week 12 of our year feels like we are finally overcoming some of that doubt and finding our groove. I’m sure I’ll lose my way again, but with reminders from friends and research and resources to guide me along, hopefully I always find my way back.
It feels like we were just celebrating Halloween and my birthday. And suddenly Jack is now seven and Thanksgiving is just around the corner. I need to focus on making sure we find moments to savor this fast season of life.
During our 12th week Jack rediscovered his love for math. Swapping curriculums and also starting the free math app, Prodigy, has him loving numbers again.
We finished the Young Ben Franklin podcast last week and followed up with researching more about Ben Franklin this week with books like Now & Ben (highly recommend this). I read the poem, The Man from Snow River, that reminded me of my sister (it’s her favorite movie) and has me wanting to show the boys the scene of the cowboys rounding up the horses in the mountains.
We are continuing to love The Past and the Curious and Same Page podcasts. This was our last week to listen to The Road Less Taken and an excerpt from A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Jack and I now have both of these passages memorized. We ended the week by reading Ella Bella Ballerina and the Midsummer Nights Dream. Jack thought the part about a man named Bottom being turned into a half-man half-donkey was hilarious. I’m hoping to get ahold of the full play and read it to him soon. Another podcast we have discovered is Grimm, Grimmer, Grimmest. Both my boys are enjoying this spin on the Grimms Brothers tales.
We read from several nature books on our weekly hike to Green Gorge and savored the season and each other’s company.
Before the weather turned colder, we enjoyed park time with bikes, knowing those moments may be limited for a bit.
We ended the week with surprise guests— my sister and her kids came up from Florida to celebrate Jack’s 7th Birthday weekend with us. We had a lovely weekend with family and friends.

How was your week!

I didn’t finish as much as I would have hoped, but there’s always this week.

Cozy mornings. Pumpkin bread. #Coffee. All good things.

And that #pumpkin #loaf from @eatingbirdfood is treating me pretty well. For my baking success and other shenanigans come to the blog for my #weekinreview! Linking up with @cleaneatsfastfeets.

The @syracusestallions won their first road game on Saturday against @scrantonshamrocks 139-135. Jamail Stanley (pictured left) and Chris Gilkes led the way with 39 and 36 points. Stanley also added 25 rebounds. Forward Mickey Davis (pictured right) had 17 points and shot 60 percent from the floor. .

Tonight I’m tired. Not just physically tired, but soul tired. Some Sundays energize me, others just beat me up. #sundaystyle⛪️ .
Finally got my cough under control. 🙌 Started making Christmas plans. Rosie got her cast off. Ortho appt & shopping with my boy. Dinner with the in laws. #weekinreview

Sometimes we all need to take a breath, slow down and relax a little. Something I talk to lots of my clients about. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And I’m no different so this week has seen me take a week off! Yes, really! Time to plan for the rest of this year and early next year, as well as prep our Christmas fairies for what they need to organise at work (and I probably shouldn’t mention also nearly finishing my Christmas shopping and getting cracking with the cards!)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This week then ended with Remembrance Sunday, a time to remember all those who lost their parents or children in war, or who never even got the chance to become parents. 🌺 #lestweforget ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
