Long post of gratitude but hopefully worth the read:
If you would have told me 3 years ago that I'd be able to connect and share with authors and teachers from all over the country- I'd probably say, "I don't think so..." I'm truly amazed by the friendships I've made through Social Media and the community built on a common love of books and teaching. I am better for knowing each and every one of you.
Two weeks ago @msaplusteacher and I attended an author event for a Book Birthday! (@buffalojenn ) when Jenn walked into the bookstore and I waved at her without thinking she'd remember me from our in-person introduction last summer, she waved back and smiled. She greeted me by name at her signing and it brought a huge smile to my face. Later on, I met a friend of hers who talked to Amanda and I about her family and friends and her books. Today, I received her signed books in the mail (pictured above) with a note- "For you, your classroom, or Book Journey, whatever you see fit." I was blown away and grateful for her generosity which I will pass on to my 5th graders for years to come.
So whether we met on IG, Facebook, Twitter, NerdCampMI, or any other outlet --- #Slantboxes , #wecantputbooksdown , #BookJourney #nerdcampmi you have all been part of a boost of enthusiasm when I need it most. To try new things, to do better, to change it up.
Thank you for inspiring me every day. ❤️ This is the community that books built. 📚
