Happy Thursday friends! Wanted to take a quick second to explain how I made plain 1x2 furring strips from Home Depot, look like actual barnwood for the background of my mountain piece! I know there are tons of different great ways to do this, but this is just one way that I found works for me (and using a blow torch to burn stuff is fun)☺️ Because I have trouble getting the grain on store-bought wood to look “aged”, I used what I learned from Lizzy over at @sawdustjunkies and burned the wood first, by using a blow torch! Then I used a cupped wire brush drill attachment and went to town on the charred wood, which raises the actual grain to give the wood more depth. Last, I used @weatherwash stain in ‘Rusted’ over the whole thing, waited an hour, and did another coat. Voila, barnwood!
