This past week has marked the fourth anniversary of the Bangladesh Rana Plaza factory collapse, where over 1100 people were devastatingly killed and 2500 more injured. The fashion industry is still a complex beast of opaque supply chains that are exploitative of people and damaging to our planet, but the global movement powered by @fash_rev is gaining great momentum through the simple question: #whomademyclothes? By asking your favourite brands this week—and every week!—you can help gear positive change in the lives of those spinning, knitting, weaving, dyeing, cutting, sewing, sizing, finishing…making your clothes! I’ve been incredibly inspired this week by local Melbourne designer and friend @loishazel, who has been sharing great videos on her Instagram stories about how she makes her clothes and runs her small business. This is a shot I took last year during a pop up she held in Northcote, Melbourne, and it’s been so great to see her label grow since we’ve connected. 23/100 #The100DayProject

who made my shoes? purchased via @shopnewclassics, my @veja sneakers were mindfully and ethically crafted in a high-standard factory in porto alegre, brazil (a well-developed region in south brazil). porto alegre has good working and living conditions, respect for worker dignity, and effective trade union representation.
for me, i'm slowly learning and making the move to purchasing more sustainable pieces to incorporate in my wardrobe (i've said it before and i'll say it again; baby steps friends, baby steps). i'm becoming aware that full transparency in the production of my clothing is getting to be an important factor with my purchases. i hope that this will become important for you as well!

"Nothing comes for free" and nothing is really cheap. There's always a fair and reasonable price for something that is made ethically. The real question is, who's picking up the tab for the really cheap stuff we buy? If it's not the consumer, then that leaves one of two options:
1. The company who produces it, or
2. The person employed to make it and isn't paid a fair wage
We all know which of the two likely options it is! Are you comfortable with that?

Three days! Three days till it's here folks!

A relaxed attitude is good if negating stress but not if you have the #powertodosomething I repeat #dosomething #Sustainablefashion has it's place but there is so much more that can be done. Read the article that Alden @ecocult has on 14 #Sustainable and #Ethicalfashion myths on the top page of her website. Very insightful. I have shared the article to my Community Website page Baby Boomer and Mature Women Clothing Styles because I think older women also need the topic at the fore front. #Ecofriendly #Ethicallymade #fashionrevolution #fashrev #fashrevweek #fashrevideas #fashionrevolutionideas #businesswithaconscious #earthdayeveryday #responsiblefashion #slowmade #fairtrade #independentboutiques #supportsmallbusiness #sustainableproducts #whomademyclothes #sustainableliving #wearthechange

#whomadeyourweddingdress It's an awkward question. You're in the excitement of planning your wedding, the boutique is local, do you really need to ask #whomademyclothes #whomademyfabric and #whatisitmadeof ??? So the ugly truth is that the vast majority of wedding dress fabrics are made in conditions that are so awful to people or planet or both that if you could see the supply chain you wouldn't want that chain around your body or your Wedding. If you are getting a bespoke gown demand more. Who made the fabric and how and who will stitch the gown. This detail of Alex's gown shows 4 different upcycled materials including an intricate Gold and Turquoise Sari boarder that had been saved for years just waiting for its moment to be lovingly made into something new. You really can #wearthechange #fashionrevolutionweek #fashionrevolution #ecoluxury #imadeyourclothes #upcycledfashion #upcycledfabric #alternativebride #alternativewedding #ecobride #antislavery #slowfashion #lovepeopleandplanet

Lovely local favourite, Lois Hazel (@loishazel), makes all of her garments right here in Melbourne—either in-house at her Brunswick studio, or outsourced to other talented makers nearby. Lois has been sharing some of her processes and behind-the-scenes on her Instagram stories this week as part of #fashionrevolution, and is admirably transparent about every step, supplier and material she uses. The Autumn/Winter range from Lois Hazel is now in-store ✨

We know it's dreary outside but maybe it's time to add a little sunshine with our Sunset print? It's a mindful choice when you buy from Cor. All of our prints are developed from the designer's hand paintings, printed on organic cotton and mindfully made in our factory in Delhi. We visit our factory three times a year and work one on one with the craftswomen and men in all stages of production. We actually sew and cut with them, often unheard of in the fashion industry and particularly when outsourcing where a hierarchy often means that means the designer may never meet the maker. You will soon be able to find out more about our sustainable practices on our website! This print is inspired by the sunsets of Byron Bay on the East coast of Australia, Jaz Hunt (our designer's) hometown. You can get your hands the whole outfit: our Klein trousers and Picasso top (just squeezing in here) from @thekeepboutique in Brixton and the trousers from @ybdfashion @69boutique . The lovely boutiques we stock in and the wonderful women behind them!
