Entrepreneurial Mindset!!! I had a very interesting conversation with one of my #farmerbrother s @corporatefarmer9ja about labour on the farm. In discussing our current situations on our farms, he said if you have a worker on the farm who has no entrepreneurial mindset, then you have no business keeping him. The one who is always thinking of how to improve your status, make money for the farm to earn his pay and more, makes suggestions that have positive impact on your accounting books is the one you want to work with. Recently an Entrepreneur of over 40years told me she is looking for land to buy for one of her staff. That has always been her way of rewarding good staff. She said if this particular staff turns in her letter of resignation, she would almost fold up her business. That shocked me because, from my HR point of view something is wrong. Her other workers should be groomed or changed then. So going on to my #wastetowealth photo. We were advised at the Farmers School to endeavor to keep the 4-legged friends away from our tree crops by recycling big tins like this. This was demonstrated at the class. Simple but works wonders. We once lost all our coconut seedlings to them. Slide past to see what to do. Now I'm looking for tins💚👍🏾I better ask @123recycle_ng
The star at the last class, our media man with whom I posed for a photo. The young man in white is an Organic Agriculture Farmer and enthusiast. He left his last employment to become a farmer. He stole the show when he begged parents to let their children practice Agriculture.
Then the man in short sleeved shirt heads the team at the school. He is proud of the contributions that Oyo State is making in Agriculture and felt as a Zonal Director, they the staff could do more to promote Agriculture by keeping farmers informed and assisting them with their problems. Hence the Farmers Field School. I celebrate Alhaji Luqman Oladapo and his team which includes Dr. Sosina and 3 others which I shall add shortly.
Whatever and however we can improve our environment, let us do our best using all the resources available to us. Excuses do not do it. Effort does not count, only result is celebrated.

@Regrann from @recyclepoints - Our poor waste management habits, indiscriminate littering and illicit waste disposal methods will always haunt us.
This is not the duty of Government alone, we have to rethink on the way we all as post-consumers dispose our waste. We also have to hold accountable the various producers who either produce or use these items for packaging and do not deem it extremely necessary extend their responsibilities to support the proper disposal of these items which they produce. They need to implement an effective Extended Producer Responsibility (#EPR) strategy.
We @RecyclePoints see opportunities in these pictures and advocate that our citizens need to think inwards...lots of the items pictured here are Styrofoam materials used for retail food packaging. Styrofoam can be successfully recycled to produce stuffing molds and beads used for packaging of fragile items. We can also recycle them to produce retail food packaging materials. We @recyclepoints are still searching to identify a venture in Nigeria that does this locally (we stand to be corrected) which means we import this material that we see wasting in our streets at the current outrageous foreign exchange rates. 🤔

One major problem most cities in Nigeria face is the indiscriminate dumping of waste and this over time have seen government stepping up it waste management effort.Thankfully, there have been a rise in the number of startups focused on innovative ways of ridding our streets of this harmful waste materials.

One of such startups is #OlamideBabajide’s @PearlRecycling,a company that transforms recyclables like car tires, magazines, straws, plastics and wood among other things into household items.

Launched in 2014,with 5,000 U.S dollars that Babajide won through an entrepreneurship programme,Pearl Recycling is a social-oriented organization that offers money in exchange for this recyclable waste.
The company employs three staff members and young Nigerians to gather these waste products and has also rained about 20 people to make both functional and ornamental pieces from this waste material

This is another fantastic opportunity to participate in Jobaye's intensive Biogas workshop... Biogas is a renewable and alternative source of energy that is produced from the Biological breakdown of organic waste (such as manure, food leftovers, farm waste) in the absence of oxygen. The energy released allows Biogas to be used as a Fuel for any heating purpose - such as cooking. Biogas can be compressed and utilized much like natural gas. Biogas can be used in a gas engine to convert the energy in the gas to heat and electricity. The biological breakdown process also leaves a nutrient rich digestate that can be used as fertilizer. Biogas is environmental friendly, smokeless, odorless and most importantly Non explosive... So why do you spend so much on gas when you can make your own gas? #WasteToWealth #RenewabeEnergy #BiogasTraining #SaveTheDate #FabeNigeia #GreenSkills #EcoSchoolsNG #GreenEnergy #SustainableLiving #SDGs #Sdg7 #renewableenergy #Jobaye - #regrann

@Regrann from @opefarms - Still on Thaumatococcus_daniellii
So, the name was shortened to T-danielli, just when I got use to calling it Thaumatococcus_daniellii and loving it too. 😊
The sensitization for #T-danielli was held at FRIN ( #forestryresearchinstituteofnigeria ) Do you know it is 3,000 times sweeter than sugar? Did that catch your attention? 💚💚💚 The long story cut short is that we need to leave the cultivar with the green vein for 2/3 years to be able to harvest the rhizomes. The one with black vein does not give the rhizomes that we need.
To think the awareness went beyond T-danielli, you cannot believe that in passing one of our hosts a very jovial man mentioned africanwalnut bread and curiosity took over. Lo and behold FRIN has a bakery that makes this lovely walnut bread and also coconut bread with 30% input. Walnut is anti-aging, full of Antioxidants and has freeradicals.

While trying to get to the bakery, we stumbled on locustbeans making unit. Yes, they also make fermented Locust beans, we were privileged to see how it's made. Sometimes I wonder how people figured out some of these things. Locust beans is boiled in a big iron pot for 6/7 hours with firewood at first instance before curing, fermentation and more. We had to pass through the wood workshop, another eye opener. With a strong emphasis on #wastetowealth
Back to T-danielli, some of the Farmers in attendance asked questions about the process, FRIN and officers from NRDI took time to answer. We visited a T-danielli farm at FRIN. The Chairman of OYGADEP then rounded up the session thanking our hosts for the event. T-danielli grows very well in only 5 states of the 36 states and it will be grown in clusters in Oyo, Ondo, Osun, Akwa-Ibom. Very soon, we shall be calling all #womeninorganicagriculture to join the cluster. There is a lot to leverage on at this time....... So many opportunities abound. The Minister for Agriculture also visited FRIN recently to see for himself.
Oh I loved the setting of FRIN. Every farm should have a layout with every tree an crop labeled. FRIN showed the way it should be, very nice.
