THINGS TO NOTE: This is not my recipe. This soap has zero bubbles. Zilch. Zip. BUT...bubbles certainly aren't necessary for getting your dishes clean - just takes a bit of getting used to mentally!
I've found that if your dishes are particularly greasy, it's best to refill your sink with fresh water and soap 1/2 way through (or when you deem it necessary) for optimum results.
Dont use too much per sinkful of water. I use around 4 pumps (from an amber glass pump bottle). And DO give it a GOOD shake before each use - it gets some weird looking lumpy stuff floating on the top while it's sitting around in the cupboard.
You will end up with grime in your sink after your dishes have been done. You won't necessarily see it just by looking, but you will definitely notice if you wipe out your sink afterwards (lol, I hate seeing water drops in my sink, I like the whole thing dry and sparkling!) I suggest wiping it out then giving your dish cloth a good rinse in hot water to wash the grime out. Change your dish cloth often 😉
12 oz (355ml) Distilled Water
1/4 Cup Castile Soap
2 Tbsp Washing Soda
1 tsp Vegetable Glycerin
1 capful Thieves plant-based cleaner
5-10 drops your favorite essential oil (I used Lemon)
1. In a medium saucepan, add the water and castile soap and bring to a boil. Immediately turn down the heat to low/medium (or take off heat if you have an electric stove, like me) and add the washing soda, glycerin, and Thieves plant-based cleaner and stir for 30 seconds to a minute until everything is dissolved.
2. Take off the heat and allow to sit for at least an hour or two as it will thicken over time.
3. Add the essential oils and then carefully pour into an empty (500ml) dish soap container (preferably dark glass, especially if adding a citrus essential oil). * * GIVE IT A GOOD SHAKE BEFORE EACH USE * *
