MY SHARE OF WALKING AWAY by Mobolaji Olorisade...
#walkingaway Day 9
I've had to walk away from many things since I got saved. I can talk about how I begged God to bring Godly friends into my life because He had pruned me of many old friends.
It was painful to walk away and like Lot's wife, many times, I looked back. Thank God I didn't turn to salt.
I had to walk away from worldly and secular songs. I don't even remember how it happened but a time came that I had to let them go- for my sanity.
I had to walk away from gossip, ahh, this one was hard! I've always been one to want to know it all and 'gist' about others, but God taught me that gossip is sin so I had to walk away.
I had to walk away from boys and unnecessary dates. I'm single and searching for more of God.
But recently, I had to walk away from movies. I remember watching a popular comedy when God said, "you can actually do something much better with your time". I've not gone back to that series since. I'm very limited with the movies I can watch too because Holly/Nollywood just wouldn't let my mind stay pure. °
People say men are very visual, but I fall under that category though I'm female. It takes me days to get stuff off my mind once it gets in and I can over analyze things. °
To be honest, I don't get how one's mind can stay pure after watching many movies, eg Game of Thrones (Yes, all you GOT lovers, I'm in my house, come and beat me 😜) It's hard but I had and still have to walk away from many movies- for my own sanity.
Most movies encourage things that are sin or lead to sin. °
Call me spirikoko (and proud!). I know not everyone can walk away from immoral movies.
But God is teaching me to walk away; and I will fight tooth and nail for my purity. -Mobolaji Olorisade-
