🤟🏽 You can feel your forearms starting to pulse,
Your left hip starting to twinge,
Lower back starting to ache,
And shoulders are up around your ears,
You are on your way out,
Seriously doubting you can make the next stroke.
You have 2 choices
To Paddle like a tool,
Or pull your shit together
And concentrate on good movement.
You may not have been paddling long enough yet to notice this but as you get tired or worry about stability in canoe your reach drops to your side.
It’s a natural reaction.
You need to make a conscious decision to change that hence the reason why you need to train,
Body and mind.
Come up with good cues for your crew that make sense & keep it simple for you ✅ front
✅ full blade
Choose a technique that works for you all & you all understand.
If you are having that ‘real’ internal battle that’s when you need to pull out the big guns & start running your positive self talk through your mind, words, mantra whatever it is that gets you going.
My favourite is ‘make every stroke count’
Or if I’m feeling heavy & sluggish I think light, & that thought changes my posture & mood straight away.
