BREAKFAST 🍳: @honeysaltvancouver
Opened only 3 weeks ago, Honey Salt is an adorable, modern restaurant located below the casino in the Parq tower which houses 2 hotels and 8 restaurants and bars. It's bright and spacious, yet still has a cozy feel with light-green velvet booths and adorable embroidered napkins. They serve a weekly classic breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as a different brunch menu on weekends.
STEAK & EGGS: This classic has an RR ranch strip loin, any style eggs and is served with a side of fried potatoes and caramelized onions, as well as house made tomato jam. We subbed out the eggs for an off-menu vegetarian omelette. The omelette was cooked very thin, crepe style, with spinach, mushrooms and cheese. We would have preferred the egg to be more substantial and fluffy with the filling mixed throughout instead of laid inside, however it was still tasty nonetheless. The steak was thick and flavourful, but it was overcooked which they happily rectified by making a new one. The tomato jam was not bad, had a little spice to it but we still preferred ketchup.
WAFFLES: This light and fluffy waffle is dusted with powdered sugar, and served with a side of sweet huckleberry jam & tart lemon custard. The custard is divine and if you're craving a sweet breakfast, this definitely hits the spot.
MALASADAS PORTUGUESE DONUTS: Served with 3 on a plate, these deep fried donut holes had a huckleberry & ricotta filling. The filling was scarce, kind of grainy, dry and tasteless with seeds that get stuck in your teeth.
SALTED HONEY PIE:
As we were celebrating a birthday, they gave us a complimentary slice of their signature sugar honey pie topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. It had a sweet caramelly flavour to it and a flakey pastry crust that was hard and difficult to cut. The overall dessert reminded us of a baclava. ❌: They serve tasty illy coffee, although we'd prefer them to be more cautious as to not spill it on their patrons.
