#sunshinechallenge - today's prompt is #chinaandpottery. Like many of us I am spoilt for choice - our local charity shops keep throwing lovely things at me and I am not very good at resisting temptation! . But in the end I thought I'd go with this, which is a Wade Whimsie - in the form of Bambi... When I was a girl I had quite a collection of Whimsies - they were pretty much the My Little Pony or Moshie Monsters of the 1970s. I don't know what happened to my collection... I expect I threw them away in my twenties when I was more ruthless and less sentimental than I am now. . I bought myself this one on my birthday trip to Hemswell Antiques Centre back in April. . #vintagetreasure#memories#backfromchildhood#childhoodmemories#wade#wadewhimsies#whimsies#wadepottery#bambi#deer#fawn

CAMEL “WADE WHIMSY”
In the 1950s, Wade potteries began creating “Whimsies,” which were small porcelain animal figurines. Staring in 1967, they were given out with boxes of Red Rose Tea. My sister has a collection of them, which she inherited. You can barely make out the words “WADE ENGLAND” along the bottom of the camel.
