Needed a way to get the kids off the couch when it's to hot to go out side. Thanks to this awesome article by @kmitch81 I found a fun way to do it! The kids like it, for the boys every time they die or level up they have to rotate between either squats or burpees and Lilly every 3 min. Since shes just watching videos. Weighted med ball tossing from the knees is beneficial because it forces the person tossing to generate power from their core and shoulders! This skill is a fun way for kiddos to build a strong core and upper body. They love to throw things, then run and get them! The 6 & 7 year old in the video are using a light 6lb. ball. Increase and decrease the weight and size of the ball based on age and ability. The point is, pick up semi-heavy and awkward objects often, and keep it fun!

It was Flex Friday at Kids Camp today, so of course we had to flex those strong muscles and move some weight! Today we practiced using our legs to lift objects by squatting then standing to lift. This is a skill kids should learn early and practice often! We started with rubber weight plates, then graduated to a panel mat that is just a tad heavier and more awkward. We used partners for this not only to lessen the load, but to practice working TOGETHER! Teamwork makes the dream work!

When it comes to added sugar....LESS is better! Take away for Parents? Choose REAL foods over processed foods as much as possible. "This consumption data is combined with the determination that “current evidence supports the associations of added sugars with increased energy intake, increased adiposity, increased central adiposity, and increased dyslipidemia, all of which are demonstrated (cardiovascular disease) risk factors.” With that in mind, it’s no surprise the American Heart Association states that children under 2 should avoid added sugars and older children should consume less than 25 g per day (100 calories or about 6 teaspoons)(7)." #Repost @crossfitkids (@get_repost)

Pulling practice with seated sled pulls! Making this a relay race is a fun way for kiddos to strengthen their upper back, shoulders and grip. This motion transfers nicely to rope climbs and pull ups!
