Despite the fact she was sick and had a fever (we were assured it was not contagious), Meg was the teacher she always is. She was onto me tonight - I got soooo many corrections... I don't even know where to begin. There was pulling up to create more space in my back, closing properly in "my" 5th, not somethinging my shoulders because we're only doing tendus (I actually missed what she said so I just moved my shoulders around until she seemed happy and walked away), rotating from my inner thigh, more plié, not stopping when I glissade before a grand jete and travelling more, and about another 10-100 other things 😂.
She prefaced the several adage exercises set with, "I don't like adage so I don't do a lot of it and then I feel bad"... As President of the #ihateadage club, I wish she wouldn't feel bad because I am more than fine with the way it's been! 😂 btw my new thing to do a half smile and raise my eyebrows during adage. I possibly look a little shocked/surprised/odd but the eyebrows remind me to pull up and the smiling tricks my brain into thinking that this is delightful and we're having a great time (when we're REALLY not)!
I keep replaying this moment when Meg told me to do something mid-exercise and I panicked and said "I don't know what that is!" and then got the giggles. It's something I say way too often to teachers... a true #shitmystudentsays moment. My ballet vocab is getting better but it's still really bad!
I hopped a bit in a pirouette but instead of getting a correction, Meg was actually happy that I had built enough strength to relevé midturn and not come down early. @kathryn_morgan's counting backwards in pirouettes is still helping on my right side but turning to the left is just not good at the moment. It just feels off.
No second class tonight. I'm starting a five week choreography and movement course on Wednesdays and as usual have early morning pilates so I was meant to have an early night... It's now 11.47pm. Fail.
