Tonight was our last Tuesday night with @meg_honey_parry and @flostralia56 for a few weeks as their Gatsby season kicks off shortly.
It seems they were channelling each other this week as they both had the idea to do a different/interesting/challenging class with the excuse that they didn't want us to forget them. No chance of that! They also both gave us centre exercises where you hopped/jumped back while in an arabesque type position. That was a bit horrific. I'm certain they won't forget us after seeing that trainwreck! Despite this, both classes were fun!
Corrections from both about creating space through my back. Flo also wanted me to do this even when I plié. A reminder from Meg to use and lift my core. I'm not sure what this is called but you kind of chassé forward and then releve to an arabesque... anyway, a corrections from Meg not to have my body too far forward when I go into it. Oh also a correction about not jutting my neck forward when I'm trying to balance at the barre in retiré. Flo gave us all a correction to vary the time of our frappés. She also talked about dynamic stretching and for our arabesque to be a dynamic, rather than passive movement. Reaching reaching reaching and just a few cm higher than what we think we can do. Arabesques are something I really want to improve between now and the end of the year so I'll definitely be taking these corrections on board. I know it sounds like a lot of corrections but I did get a "good Pia" when I was doing grand battements from Meg. I love corrections and I want them all the time but it makes me really happy when my teacher is pleased with how I'm doing something.
