Milking a cow in rural Bangladesh: Completed ✌️ It's seriously dawned on me today that this was one of the awareness building moments I've had the opportunity to get involved with.
The morning of my birthday, I was given the chance to milk one of the cows which belonged to my host family. When I arrived, I was told how to do it (if you've never done it before, there is a technique) and was quickly shown, milk was squirting into the bucket very easily and I thought I'd have no problem.... Straight away, the bucket fell between my legs, losing some of the milk... My host family laughed... I picked the bucket up and, placed it between my legs and 'began to milk'... I couldn't do it and found the whole process a bit bizarre. My host family laughed, they stepped in, showed me a second time and gave me another go. Again, I failed.
The family laughed and offered to show me a final time... Eventually milk started to be released. This was only after paying close attention to what I was being told and implementing this.
You see, something which was clearly so simple and straight forward to do was made complicated by me, over thinking about a position of the bucket, hand motion, the hot weather etc
Whilst it is only milking a cow, I learnt a valuable lesson that day... You can have mentors who are there to help you, you can have the support there to pick you back up, but if you want to succeed, you need to be aware that failing is part of the process.
You also need to be aware that if something isn't working, you don't quit, you change your technique and get back to your hustle.
The fact I've used me milking a cow as a lesson to take value from just shows how everything can be used to do so. Eyes open to the world around you and you will move forward.
There will always be obstacles and things you don't know... Until you start doing, you will never know.
Pick your chin up and get back on your path. You can make excuses for not doing something and quit OR you can make progress.
