“A flower does not think about competing with the flower next to it. It just blooms.“
This quote has been so meaningful to me, it kind of goes along with “bloom where you are planted” - but it’s also a reminder to not get caught up in what others are doing or how they are blooming.
At twilight last night I was out walking the dog and passed by this amazing Plumeria tree. So fragrant & beautiful - and seeing this is a rare sight even in California because it means someone made the effort to bring back a cutting from Hawaii and carefully cultivate its growth.
What struck me, though, is that the beauty of this flower was enhanced a thousand times by growing together in a cluster.
Each flower does not concern itself with the flower next to it - and while each flower is beautiful alone - together they are fierce. They get noticed. People stop what they are doing to gaze at them. Together they form enough blooms to create a beautiful lei. A different but unique use with perhaps a bigger impact than a single flower in a vase.
No matter what kind of flower you are becoming, remember we are better together, in community.
I’m so grateful for my community. Do you have a community that helps you bloom?
