Made it to wonderful Chichen Itza and Coba today. Loved experiencing these historic sites after researching them for a couple of months. We also explored Ik Kil and swam in our first Cenote.
I can't help but be thankful for my new lifestyle. Old Haley never would have wanted to leave the resort. Two main things would have held me back. Firstly, doing the actual work of getting to the ruins would have been too much. I would have turned back. Secondly, I didn't have as much confidence as I do now. For some reason, I let being overweight rob me of so many joys. I would have been mortified to let people see me panting and dripping sweat, but ya know all the fit people were too. So it was all mental, but hindsight is 20/20 I guess.
Today we walked for miles without a care in the world (except my thighs rubbed like a mother) and even climbed the highest pyramid in the Yucatan Peninsula. And let me tell you, that temple was no joke. I have never in my life dripped sweat from my forearms, but today it happened. It was all worth it though!
