And this is my glass of orange juice, in its natural cup. Oranges are one of my favourite fruits, not just because they are beneficial to our health, but because they bring back memories of half time playing rugby League. We never had sports drinks, Gatorade, Powerade, just nature’s power packed orange. The humble Orange isn’t so humble, high in Vitamin C ( more readily absorbed than a pill or capsule) fibre for gut health, thiamine, B9 Folate, Potassium, copper and calcium (5% DRI). Oranges also contain Limonoids, which have shown in many studies to reduce the chances of Mouth, Throat and Stomach cancers by 40-50%. Limonoids are attached to the glucose molecules which allows them to be quickly absorbed and utilised by our bodies. Not many foods contain antioxidants that are absorbed as fast as in the Humble orange. So do yourself a favour and switch your store bought orange juice for the fresh variety. One a day is all you need.
