Had lots of fun designing and setting this piece! The customer had a bunch of marquise diamonds in an old setting that needed to be used and updated! A marquise cushion halo is what we came up with, along with a scalloped shank. This was a really fun setting project, with its tiny v-prongs, bright cutting and bezel setting!
Thank you to everyone who played along with my game in yesterday’s post — I’m sorry to report that the majority of the guesses were incorrect! The larger center stone in yellow gold is actually the diamond! The smaller stone in white gold has the moissanite center stone. Those of you who guessed the smaller stone was moissanite were correct when you talked about how it displays a greater spectrum of colors in its sparkle. (Although that difference is subtle.) But those of you who assumed the larger stone was moissanite made a good point that larger stones would be more affordable as moissanite, so it seemed like a good deduction. So, we can still give high fives all around. 👏🏽 🏆 Moral of the story: moissanite has come a looong way over the years. My favorite is the Hearts & Arrows cut (shown in this ring) which clearly looks extremely diamond-like. Note that both stones in my demo grade as colorless, VS clarity or greater. (Diamond had an Excellent cut grade.) Aren’t minerals just the coolest?! . . . #moissaniteengagementring#moissanite#diamondalternative#haloengagementring#ringinspiration#ringinspo#futureheirlooms#haloring#antiqueinspiredring#vintageinspiredring#rings💍#moissanitehalo#kristincoffinjewelry#moissanitediamond
