1995 turned out to be one of the best vintages in the 90's in Bordeaux. Many wines have evolved and are drinking well now. I was curious to see if it was the case for the Palmer.
I didn't decant it, just let it breathe in the glass. Still this wine needed a lot of air, around 2 hours. It turned out to be a beautiful, classy claret.
The nose has black currant, ripe plums, cedar wood, tobacco, leather pencil shavings and some earthy notes. This is a medium bodied wine, with mellowed tannins.
There's a good amount of acidity, that is complemented by ripe fruits and some spices.
The Palmer 1995 is an elegant, multi layered wine, that should be fully matured soon.
