So .. Final thoughts on Spain and Spanish football .. After the game - me and this awesome jersey went to my favorite little Dali Bar in Madrid and met a nice but sketchy old dude - as I always do. He invited me to join him at another bar that played live music and from the sound and the look it was exactly the place I would love.
However, the bouncer told me I had to cover my shirt as they don't allow any sports clothing inside the bar. Since I have some self-respect and am not 18 .. I told him to F off ( in the nicest way). I somehow managed to wear this jersey in 4 "hostile" stadiums with no incidents and even a few new friends. Amazing how a simple shirt is a conversation starter for people who don't speak the same language or even like the same team or even sport. (There was a Kiwi who was insisting #benzema should be a rugby player - I see his point but NO ..) If this bar's only dress code is to feed into the nonsense that sports fans can't drink and dance to bad music I say what I always say to people in Spain when they make no sense .. "This is why you're broke!" And that is also why I will not mention the name or ever return .. But I'll be back in #sanmamesstadium #vincentecalderon , #ramonsanchezpizjuanestadio someday .. If I'm lucky enough to continue my travels once I get a real job again .. #halamadridynadamas
