My awesome Veteran's Day thrift shop find; a gift to myself. As a combat veteran, if I were to take one thing away from being lucky enough to come home when others didn't, it would be to never betray yourself.
Always embrace your passions, always do you. You are only given one life and promised nothing... Why live for others? Why throw it all away because others don't approve of or understand what makes you happy?
Part of why I'm pursuing 'vlog life' and chronicling my life as a geek/nerd/whatever label makes you comfortable is because I want the world to understand that geeks and nerds aren't just the stereotypes... they come from all walks of life.
We are doctors, lawyers, cooks... anything you can think of; we are everywhere. Yes... even military. Even combat veterans.
So when others have the nerve or arrogance to judge you or belittle you because you are a part of the beautiful nerd nation, just realize how sad and empty their lives must be that they need to torment happy people in order to experience any sort of twisted joy. And then continue being happy and yourself.
You are beautiful and creative and imaginative. Don't forget it. Happy Veteran's Day, my beautiful nerd nation... especially my military brothers, sisters and non- binaries. Much love.
