🌳 JOHN 🌳 YUNIS 🌳Skrebneski, Chicago, Interior Design by Bruce Gregga, Part 1, Entrance Hall: For those who don't know, Victor Skrebneski, aka Skrebneski, is a Chicago-based fashion photographer who worked most famously during the 1960's to the 2000's, when his images were iconic. He photographed everyone and made everyone look incredible. The AD article was written by another icon, Suzy, aka Aileen Mehle, whom he photographed several times. Not sure, but I believe he was responsible for many of the iconic images of the Estee Lauder ad campaigns during this period. According to the article from about 1999-2000: "Skrebneski has lived in his Chicago residence, originally a Victorian-era coach house, for almost 50 years. The mansion in front of it was demolished more than 30 years ago, making space for a courtyard with an allée of trees and boxwood topiaries. Skrebneski and Chicago interior decorator Bruce Gregga gently redesigned the coach house to accommodate a studio on the first floor and living quarters on the second. What Skrebneski wanted was a modern house, even minimalist, with spaces perfectly proportioned. He envisioned it with an artist's eye, as he views everything. The spare look is introduced by a recently added entrance hall with floors, walls and staircase molded entirely out of concrete. This rectangular, almost stark space is relieved, however, by a carved wood 17th century Italian figure, and on the landing just above it are a Jean-Michel Frank five-panel parchment screen and a bronze–doré Diego Giacometti bench.". Unfortunately we don't get to see the screen or the bench and, to me, the floor appears to be travertine. Nonetheless, love this space.
