After roughly an hour land travel from the port of Buenavista, we were moved by our feet, or maybe the wheels of the multicab to an unexpected #centuriy old #religious icon in the heart of Guimaras. And this was originally called San Isidro Labrador #church in Navalas.
The church is built in the span of 5 years ( 1880 – 1885 ).
It’s now called #Navalas Church and known as the #oldest existing #Roman #Catholic church in the province of Guimaras that conquered nature’s and man-made’s devastation. A bigger bell than the present one, said to be more than four feet tall, made of gold/silver, formerly was hung at the belfry but was carted away and dumped into the sea near Isla del Siete Pecados by Muslim raiders. Only the facade remains untouched, but the ceiling and structure inside the church was already renovated.” #simbahan #province #religion
