Yes I haven’t consumed meat for one month. If you’re interested in the very candid why and how, read on 👉🏾
I’ve been wanting to go meatless for years and I’ve tried and failed a few times.
A few months ago, I gave up shellfish and pork, because the Bible demands this of the Hebrews and for good reason. Both are bottom-feeders, essentially nature’s garbage disposals and pork especially is the cause of many ailments in the black community. But after that, I knew I wanted to give up all meat. The reasons why, 1 because it just doesn’t make sense to eat meat: spiritually, ethically, physically, you name it. 2 is because we in America eat a ridiculous amount of meat as a population which contributes directly to world hunger. There’s more reasons, but I’ll leave you with the 3rd and most compelling reason for me. The way land animals are treated in the meat industry, totally mirrors the horrendous, inhumane treatment blacks in America went through during slavery. Death by hanging, rape (forced insemination), ripping apart of families, live skinning, and more.
Now, once I learned this, I decided to go meatless. But even after this, I tried and failed after a week and a half. I caved into a craving for some In N Out, smh lol.
So how did I finally say no for good?
I *very briefly* dated a vegetarian who said he would help me give up meat. I thought that was a dope proposition. But when that didn’t work out, I was faced with a dilemma. Now that dude is no longer in the picture, do I just go about eating meat like I’d been doing? Do I need a man or anyone for that matter to help me make changes to my life? Could I just decide to do something and with enough willpower and determination, follow through, regardless of how hard it was?
I decided this was something I would just do and just stick with, no matter what. And so far so good. I still get fried chicken cravings and I miss Wingstop lol. But I’m very happy with my decision. And In N Out has meatless options lol.
