I get SO many messages these days about what I eat as a Vegan, so Im going to do more food related posts for you ☺️🌿This is a pretty typical breakfast for me, my 'Protein-Breaky Blast' smoothie/bowl πŸ‡πŸ˜‹πŸ‘‡
Ingredients
1 scoop @trueprotein Vegan Blend
2 frozen bananas
2/3 cups frozen berries
6-7 dates
2tsp Chia Seeds
1 heaped tsp LSA
Coconut Flakes and cacao nibs to liking
Water to blend πŸ’™πŸŒΏπŸŒŽThis keeps me full until lunch time (sometimes😝) and is jam packed with nutrients and antioxidants πŸ™

This is not easy to post but just maybe someone will know they are not alone. Sometimes, friends and family make comments about calories, or my weight and although they have good intentions, they also don't know what I've been through. 🌊
I was asked how many calories I consume in a day. I didn't want to answer because the answer for once in my life is I don't know. I don't want to know. I don't want to be constricted my numbers anymore, obsessing over calories or macros nutrients. Letting numbers dictate what I can and can't eat, how much I should eat, making me feel guilty for being hungry, instead of actually listening to my body and nourishing it. 🌊
Recovering from an eating disorder or any mental illness for that matter is so difficult because there's no way someone could tell you're in pain or struggling. 🌊
For a moment, I started hearing negative thoughts in my mind spiral out of control, but then I realized I just had to focus on FEELING good. I don't need to be anyones "body goals". I'm trying to change from the inside out because self love and kindness will always win. ❀️

Delicious Dahl that @yourhealthproject and I whipped up.
Ingredients: Lentils, Onion, Garlic, Zucchini, Spinach, Mushrooms, Avocado, Pickles & brown rice.

Put onions and garlic in a pot heated with coconut oil. Stir for 5 mins, add garam masala and turmericπŸ‘ŒπŸΌ add the mushrooms, zucchini & lentils and 1 cup of water.
Boil some rice on the side, and serve when ready. I added pickles and Tabasco to serveπŸ˜πŸŒ±πŸ†πŸ₯‘πŸ„πŸ²πŸ΅πŸ΄

FOOD OVER MEDICINE because FOOD IS MEDICINE. When you eat whole, plant-based, unprocessed foods 🍎πŸ₯” and limit all of your fats (oils, meats, seafood, poultry, dairy products) your body has this amazing ability of healing itself from all types of ailments. Personally for me it relieved me from PCOS, depression, pre-diabetes, ADD, water retention, menstrual cramps, a food disorder and body image issues.
Back in 2009 after college, I started a career in the health and fitness industry as a trainer. With my only personal life goal of just having a good bill of health (although I always selfishly wanted abs and great butt). So with that goal floating around in my mind, I learned from others in the industry and was shown many different approaches on how to achieve such results. Many were recommendations on how to β€œdiet” and other recommendations were to use supplementation (black market included). Well, 2012 my health came crashing down when I started gaining weight. I was fatigued all day, every day. I was completely depressed, I had adult acne, terrible endurance, and I was losing my hair. I was strong, but I was fat.
Doctors recommended prescription drugs, holistic doctors recommend herbs and the avoidance of certain foods, my yoga instructor recommended mediation, and my massage therapist recommended aligning my β€œchakras”. Hell I was open to anything!! So I tried EVERYTHING. I tried ketogenic diets like atkins and paleo, intermittent fasting, carb rotation, the blood type diet, then Finally I opened up to the idea of trying a vegan diet. As a trainer I didn’t want to lose all of my muscle, and I definitely did not want to get ANY fatter than I was by consuming all of the carbs, but it was my last hope before hanging my hat up as a professional in the health and fitness industry. I did some research before going into this type of diet and came across a book called β€œThe China Study.” I also came across a documentary called β€œForks Over Knives”. At that point I decided to give it a try for a week. Fast forward 5 years and I’m still vegan. I’m also down 20 lbs, I’m leaner than I was at 25, and I’m free from all of my medication. I love this lifestyle ❀️

Happy Wednesday! Yesterday I had a new wave of inspiration and motivation. I got the itch to change things up a bit specially with what I post.
My goal has always been to inspire and educate. But lately I feel my posts have not been that.
Last night, I woke up at 4 am with a weird reminder. A reminder of all the crap that has happened in my life that I have overcome and have made me the person I am today. I appreciate how good I have it now because I have seen to many dark moments.
And if you're currently facing those moments know that they don't last. These moments are a stepping stone into the person you're supposed to grow into.

You're strong. Resilient. Powerful. Meant for more! But you have to believe it. I hope you have fabulous day!
