Forbidden rice is a nickname given to short grain black rice often served at feasts as a sticky rice pudding. Here we’ve used it to make a rice milk, then added bits of house-candied lotus seeds.

Black sesame seeds have a distinctly nutty sesame flavor and beautiful color, too! We added just a touch of vanilla to let the natural flavor shine through.
