So you want some authentic Thai food?!?!?! This super spicy dish is called KUY from southern Thailand where my mom and I are from. It's mostly herbs and spices but the star of the dish is the Parkia speciosa AKA Stink Bean, I love this stuff... I got a few plants in the back yard back home (the pic on top right is from harvesting one of the trees). We will be putting this vegan dish as a weekend special soon.
Every year for Thai New Years my mom would make this dish and pass it out at the temple for free, Thai folks would bring Tupperware and take it home to enjoy needless to say she runs out quick! (Thai restaurants don't sell this dish, people love their pad Thai too much) Yes it's vegan, firm tofu and no shrimp paste (it's really krill not shrimp)
SERVED AS IS, no u can't order it without stink bean, no u can't have it less spicy, no you can't have it without shallots of tumeric and no you can't return it because it's too SPICY!
