My first haul of cloth diapers. Yes, we will be cloth diapering our little one. The reactions I’ve gotten about using CD have ranged from “Ewww, what about the poop?” to “That’s a lot of work. You are very motivated.” or “Why would you do that to yourself?” 🙄 There’s a lot of literature out there on CD but the basics are 1. They’re sustainable. These diapers will not only save us some serious moolah but they’re reusable as in, any future children can use these same diapers. Talk about ROI. You can’t say that about disposables. 2. CD means less diapers in landfills, therefore better for the environment. 3. By using CD, you eliminate the amount and exposure of chemicals you introduce to your baby. Disposable diapers have lots of chemicals that have been linked to tons of health problems. 4. If using disposables, you’ll often have to buy different sizes once your LO outgrows one size. But with CD, you can use the same diapers from birth to potty training. Once again, you save $! 5. They’re soooo cute and versatile! There are different types of CD, inserts, covers and they come in different prints!
In addition to these diapers, which are pocket and All in Ones by @alvababyusa, I also got some microfiber inserts, bamboo liners, reusable cloth wipes aka washcloths, a bag of Charlie’s Soap and a diaper sprayer. As for the inserts, I’ll use the microfiber ones for the time being but I do plan on switching to cotton or hemp inserts eventually. The soap-the verdict’s still out on that. Some CD moms swear by Charlie’s and others hate it. Another thing that turns people away from CD is the cost. They can be pricey for the initial investment but is your baby not worth it? I bought all of these (diapers + accessories) for a whopping.....$45! They’re in Excellent Used Condition. The mom I bought them from had been CD for just a few months and switched over to a different brand. You can always resell CD but you can’t do that with disposables. 👀🐸☕️ And that’s enough for my CD rant. I will be buying more diapers and once my stash is full, I’ll strip, wash and stuff these babies for my LO’s bum. #africanandvegan #africanvegan #clothdiapers #blackwomendoclothdiaper #crunchymama
