Toddler Preschool Lunch Inspo! #vegan of course. This was what Sage and Olive took to school today. Both packed their own lunches aka told me what they wanted last night. Before we go into dets wanted to share some questions and convos I’ve been having with Sage the past few days.
Sage asked what the 8 on our @ripplefoods milk meant. And I explained it says ‘8g of protein’. That led Sage into an explanation of how we need protein to grow big and strong and the Standard American diet food pyramid diagram that they are being taught in school. Which led further into vegan sources of protein and that you do not need to hurt or eat animals to receive protein. We walked through the protein count of beans, legumes, hemp seeds, tofu, nut butters, and quinoa. Result, Sage wanted extra hemp seeds and peanut butter in his oatmeal this morning and picked out all of the lentils from our kale salad 🙄. However, he is the vegan advocate at school, in a game of ‘is it healthy or not’, his response to steak 🥩(apparently on the healthy list) “Steak is not healthy, it is dead animal” 😬
Olive - left over Mac n cheese, @daiyafoods. Cherry tomatoes and hummus, steamed broccoli. Snack: cantaloupe and yogurt parfait (@foragerproject, strawberries, raspberries, @lovegrown granola)
Sage - tofu, sweet potato, broccoli, black beans and baby carrots. Snack - @larabar and cantaloupe.
