New slippers form NB (vazee pace) arrive in da house so I went to test them 😀 Few thought about it: shoes are firm but thanks to that they are sprigy and fast - you want to run fast or very fast 😛 upper is tight and keeps foot on place. Generally I think we like each other 😉
Ironman Canada run 42.2k : But when I got my run and went into the change tent my mind shifted to “ even if we have to walk this whole marathon .. I WILL FINISH THIS RACE!!” I got my choose on and started running until the first corner and that’s when I started to walk.. I walked till the 1 k mark when I gentleman ran next to me and asked “ you ok man ? “ I said I was fine just need a lot of food and drinks . He then told me that the aid station is 1 k away and that he was very excited for some orange slices .. I said to him afterwards “ ok let’s go get it then . We ran to the aid station and I ate and drank everything I could find .. from there on it was run until your legs hurt and then walk .. and that how I went to finish the marathon .. I had the chance to run with @duffy_kyle thanks for the inspiration out there man and running with me . .
On the bike and I had drink some Gatorade . When I got out of the swim I was so thirsty that I finished half a bottle within the first few pedal strokes. Whistler Ironman has a incredible tough bike course . With a lot of rolling hills and 2500m of elevation , throw in the hot 36C and you have a huge task ahead of you !! I felt ok during the first lap and in the back of my mind I said to myself “ I can do two more loops of this !” I started struggling through the 2nd lap and when I had to go up Callaghan rd for the third time .. I was done .. at 140 k on the bike I wanted to quit and just be left alone .. I think the aid station actually motivated me to keep going . Getting through the last 40 was a sufferfest .. by the time I got back to transition I didn’t know whether I was gonna make the finish line . I was completely depleted and absolutely Finished mentally and physically .
Took my new shoes out for 10 km with 8 at MP. This never ending humidity and heat is making any harder efforts a struggle, but I keep reminding myself how fast we'll feel when fall weather shows up!
A L L S M I L E S 😁
I had such an amazing run with the @runnerscornerutah group and my new friend Heidi. Together we were Heidi Squared! 😜
It’s amazing what a difference a running buddy your same pace can make! I was completely unmotivated to run this morning until I realized there was a group run scheduled. So I changed my lame solo run plans and decided to go with the group. I haven’t run down #hobblecreekcanyon in about 10 years and it was amazing! And I haven’t kept a sub 8-minute pace for 18 miles in years (my former running life... 😆)! So I was totally stoked to see those paces keep clicking off one mile at a time while chatting and enjoying the beautiful scenery! ⛰
I’m feeling much more ready for #bigcottonwoodmarathon so I can qualify for #bostonmarathon again. Then I think I’m done with the whole #marathon running thing. Yeah, I know I’ve said that before... But I’m really looking forward to running for fun and cycling more. I hope you get to get outside and enjoy the ☀️ and fresh air. It does wonders for the body, mind and soul! ✨
