I finally caved and let someone run some tests on me. Mostly because of pride, but also because I struggle to trust sports scientists, I've never run in a lab before.

But....my good friend, @geoffreyburns, is doing his PhD at the #UniversityofMichigan so I was happy to help with his research. They put movement sensors on different parts of my legs, feet, and back, as well as using a state of the art tredmil that measures pressure. They got a ton of data, but the main ones I found interesting were my contact time vs air time (24:76), stride rate/cadence (195 at 3.51 mile pace), and my pressure hotspot on foot strike (my heels never touch the ground). Still have never done a #V02max though. Maybe some other day.

I wish I had tested this before I tore my ACL so I knew what it was when I was at my peak for weightlifting. Now after roughly 6 months of predominantly training CrossFit, so cardio, lifting, etc. I measured my V02 max to be 54 ml/kg/min.

The weekend is over, let the hard work begin! Here's a good workout to do with your partner or friend: tabatas, while pulling your partner! You can't see the bike that well in this video, but your partner will be on a 🚴, holding down the rear brakes. Meanwhile, you'll strap on a hip belt and pull your partner. For 20 seconds, sprint AS HARD AS YOU CAN! For ten seconds, stop completely and catch your breath (or try 😉). Do this for 4 minutes (8 reps!), then recover for 4 minutes. Repeat 2 more times (3 sets total!). Focus on your running form: hips forward, run forefoot. Word of warning, you WILL feel like you're going to hurl 🤢, but just remember the positives - this will make you faster and you'll gain some great butt muscles 😁😜Have fun 😊 Thanks to @kkrewsh for being my bike sherpa, and @ryanatkinsdiet for his video skillz after surviving this workout himself.

Well today had it's ups and downs. I always say competitive running is like a puzzle and you have to put the pieces together each race. We have dealt with cold, rain, heat etc... but today our team learned about running a very tight course with a new challenge, MUD ! We are a gritty blue collar team and all of our athletes and parents work hard. Nothing comes easy, it's all about work. VO2 max (maximal oxygen consumption) TierX assessment with @dr.ashleydfit and @leah_dugas . Perfect for a #humpday to get over my personal hump and see how my respiratory system performs under certain conditions, speed/incline/time.
