How I started my fitness journey.

I was a runner, no good at it, but still liked it nonetheless. But no matter how much I ran I just never looked fit. I had no clue about body types. I figured that some people were either blessed with a fit look or they weren’t. And you kinda found out whether you were blessed with it by tons of cardio. 😆😆 seriously, the things we think we know 🙄🙃.

My husband convinced to finally start lifting, i had fought it for so long because i didn’t want to look manly! But, after 3 bulging discs and incredible pain prevented me from doing any cardio, i finally gave in. The picture on the left is 3 months into lifting and tracking macros. I wish I had taken a picture from day 1 but i didn’t even think about it tracking measurements and pics. All I knew was the scale. .
▪️my first lifting program was Jamie Eason’s free lifting program on bodybuilding.com.

▪️I tracked macros using iifym.com to figure them all out. I didn’t pay someone to do my macros. The free macros I got on iifym I just trusted and used those numbers for a few months, then decided I wanted to try making adjustments myself. So I lowered my carbs and tried that for a few weeks, tried raising protein to see how that would work. Really just started tweaking things here and there. I think what really helped during this time is I wasn’t in some mad rush to have results tomorrow!! I was really enjoying the strength I was finding in the gym. I would go every morning from 5:30-6:30, and then I would come home and enjoy the day with my girls. It wasn’t taking over my life. I was just making simple changes slowly. I think that’s key because I wasn’t overwhelmed by the process. I was taking it one step at a time. I was okay with the slow and steadiness of the approach. I wasn’t feeling burnt out. In fact, every night I remember being excited or if my mind to try something new in the gym I had just studied.

▪️I soon learned I couldn’t be in a Diet or calorie deficit forever. As I increased my calories I saw much more muscle growth and kept my hard earned fatloss too.

▪️I learned I couldn't measure a successful workout by sweat and if I was sore the next day. 👇🏻👇🏻

Think about that for a minute. Are you going through a movement, or using the muscle to take your body through a movement in a specified range of motion? 🤔
Work muscles, work connective tissue, not just a movement for the sake of the movement itself. .
