☎️ C A L L Y O U R R E P S☎️ I once was super nervous to call my representatives. Who would answer the phone? What if I froze? How long would it take? Etc... so let me tell you what it’s like when I call my reps. ☎️
Firstly I write down what I want to say. Just a quick 10-30 second blurb saying where I stand on an issue. “Hi, my name is Kacy Danae and I live in Keyser, WV and I would like for ICE agents to stop separating minor children from their parents, this is an inhumane tactic. This is an election year, I will be voting. I would like to see the senator/representative take action on this issue. Thank you.” ☎️
Then I call, someone picks up the phone and says “Hi, thank you for calling the office of (insert reps name) this is (name) how can I help you”? This is where I read my pre-written piece. Then they usually say “thank you” and we both hang up. In total it takes me less than 2 minutes to call both senators and my representative. ☎️
I keep a short list of numbers in my journal, so that it is easy to access the numbers on the fly. If you need access to your reps numbers checkout commoncause.com for the full list of all your federal, state, and local reps. Local issues are worth a ring too! 🤳
These are challenging times, it is more important than ever that we speak up. Most or all of you who will see this message have #privilage . Use it. Don’t stay silent.
