The hike down to this black sand beach (called Djupalonssandur) was short, but absolutely incredible. The rain (thankfully) stopped for a short period of time, simultaneously acknowledging my arrival and my desire for it to break long enough for me to enjoy the beach. Seriously, it was raining the entire morning, and then as if blessing my wishes, ceased. It was perfect timing.
This was within the boundaries of Snaefellsjokull National Park, a park in Western Iceland. I can't begin to tell you how amazing these places I am visiting are in person (after seeing them in pictures during my research phase of the trip). More pics to come, you can bet on that!
