hanna triin luhamaa, makeup on human canvas, lee krasner tribute, 2018 —————
i love working with all kinds of makeup but as you may know, my heart burns for makeup as an artform, a way of expression. i love to create original art but i also love recreating artworks. in the process of recreating, there’s always a layer of magic in the air and atmosphere. in the process you get to put yourself in the shoes of the original artist and in some insane way there’s a connection with every brush stroke and your senses almost feel what the artist thought/felt while creating. you get to bring back art to life AND show your favourite pieces to the world, which i highly recommend - the feeling is like no other. i am a big fan of jackson pollock but a couple of years ago when i read more about him, i found that his wife lee krasner was also an artist. i like many others i too find it very sad and upsetting that women get written out of history, and art history...so this is my way of showing and reminding the world that lee krasner was not just ”jackson pollock’s wife” but a marvelous and extraordinary artist herself. —————
