I believe Roquan Smith will be both the top ranked Inside and Outside Linebacker in the 2018 NFL draft going into the NFL combine. Smith will come in arguably the fastest LB in the combine. ****Strengths****
Roquan Smith probably the most versatile linebacker in the draft. His pure athleticism and explosiveness helps him make plays on various levels. He is a great leader and very passionate about the game. He is very aggressive at the point of attack and isn't afraid to take runners and blocks head on. Smith has great balance and technique which is why he is a great finisher and tackler in space. His speed helps him be a very effective in the blitz as well as playing sideline to sideline. ****Weaknesses****
Roquan Smith doesn't use his hands well and can become attached to blocks. He often times becomes dependent on speed and agility to beat blockers. Roquan also struggles at times with his eyes, which causes him to make the wrong reads and also suffer in zone coverage at times. His size may become an issue if drafted as a MLB. ****Comparison***
Myles Jack/Telvin Smith
Roquan Smith will be perfect as an NFL 4-3 outside linebacker. His aggressive on the edge will be very beneficial to the team that is willing to play him in this system. Much like Jack, if used as a MLB, I believe Roquan would be limited in his production and efficacy. ****Overall*** Smith with be a great asset to any team that acquires him. Smith possesses the potential, leadership, and skill set to become an NFL superstar.
