Anime title: UN-GO
Genres: Mystery, Supernatural
Yuuki Shinjuurou – known as the Defeated Detective by some – solves mysteries with his eccentric partner Inga.
The cases could have been better built up. I did not see the necessity for Bettenou’s introduction near the end of the show. To me, it was as if they had tried to force a relatively bigger plot into the mostly episodic show with just a few episodes remaining. One thing I found unique was Inga’s special ability, which is key to solving cases. He transforms into a grown woman and asks someone a question. The catch is that Inga’s ability gives the target no choice but to answer the question truthfully and the target may only be asked one question. This ability is a fresh concept to me and I felt that it added an element of interest, as the difficulty lies in picking a question which would help Shinjuurou and Inga uncover the culprit’s identity. Overall, the show was slightly below decent for me and could have been much better executed.
Those looking for a mystery show with a supernatural element could try UN-GO.
