Omg it's huge!
Abdominoplasty or "tummy tuck" is a cosmetic surgery procedure used to make the abdomen thinner and more firm. The surgery involves the removal of excess skin and fat from the middle and lower abdomen in order to tighten the muscle and fascia of the abdominal wall. 😷

A nuchal cord - or an umbilical cord wrapped around the neck - is one of many things mothers-to-be fear about childbirth. The thought of your baby being ‘strangled’ by the umbilical cord can cause so much worry.
Nuchal cords are not very common complications, with prevalence rates of 6% to 37%. Most cases of nuchal cords resolve before delivery and do not impact the pregnancy's outcome, but in others, they pose a significant risk for lowered blood flow, hypoxia (low oxygen levels), and delivery complications. They can interrupt normal blood, nutrient and oxygen exchange, resulting in the baby sustaining serious injuries. They are often detected via ultrasound with a precision of up to 83-97% with color Doppler. Doctors manage nuchal cords by preventing umbilical cord compression during the labor/delivery process or in the weeks leading up to the delivery. In some cases, immediate C-sections are necessary. If they are not performed quickly enough, this can make the effects of hypoxia and ischemia significantly worse.

Great post of a kidney stone removal
✨ Most kidney stones eventually pass through the urinary tract on their own within 48 hours, with ample fluid intake. Ketorolac (Toradol), an injectable anti-inflammatory drug, and narcotics 💢 Surgical techniques have also been developed to remove kidney stones when other treatment methods are not effective.

It is impressive, beautiful, and powerful. It functions as the core of our bodies, a supervisor, and maintains blood flow and warmth thorough all other organs.
It keeps us alive. This is only a small fraction of what the heart is capable of.

Draining pus out of a brain abscess!
Brain or cerebral abscess is caused by intracranial inflammation with subsequent abscess formation, which is a pus-filled swelling in the brain that commonly occur when bacteria (usually polymicrobial with streptococcus being the most common) or fungi reaches and infects part of the brain.
Abscesses can originate from infection of contiguous structures (eg, otitis media, dental infection, mastoiditis, sinusitis) secondary to hematogenous spread from a remote site (especially in patients with cyanotic congenital heart disease), after skull trauma or surgery, and rarely, following meningitis.
As a result, swelling and irritation (inflammation) develops.
It is regarded as a medical emergency and immediate surgical drainage of the abscess provides the most optimal therapy. The procedures used are aspiration through a bur hole and complete excision after craniotomy. These procedures are also diagnostic and provide material that can guide antimicrobial therapy.
Needle aspiration is the preferred and the most commonly used procedure, seen in the video above.

A small bowel full of Ascaris! Ascaris is a type of parasitic nematode worms known as the "small intestinal roundworms.” These parasites can become quite large, growing up to 35cm! Often, no symptoms are seen with an Ascaris infection. However, in the case of a particularly bad infection, symptoms may include bloody sputum, cough, fever, abdominal discomfort, intestinal ulcer, and passing worms. Ascariasis is also the most common cause of Löffler's syndrome worldwide. Accompanying symptoms include pulmonary infiltration, eosinophilia, and radiographic opacities. Significant increases in infertility are observed in infected women. These worms are seen most often in developing parts of the world.

THE FEMALE PELVIS

This is what a woman’s pelvis looks like when we put a laparoscope through her belly button & have a look around (talk about an excellent pelvic anatomy review for all our medical nerds)! Notice just how MOBILE the uterus is (which is being moved up & down by the surgeon)! This is the sac in which ALL human life grows!! Each of our organs are designed to work together for a greater purpose. For example, during the initiation of labor, the birth of a child requires a series of biochemical changes in the uterus & cervix (mediated by rising estrogen levels in the mother). When a mother’s estrogen levels peak, proteins (called connexins) assemble between the uterine cell junctions (gap junctions) that allow contact between neighboring cells. One by one as these cells coordinate & synchronize, they increase the density of connexins & create the momentum of labor contractions! These contractions eventually become strong enough to push the baby out of the uterus, through the birth canal & into our world!

Pulling the skin off to expose the skull!! This is a coronal flap to the upper facial skeleton!! This is a frontal bone (forehead) exposure for facial reconstruction after a car accident.
A coronal flap approach is indicated to expose the anterior cranial vault, the forehead, and the upper and middle regions of the facial skeleton, known as the craniomaxillofacial region. It is used in the repair of extensive upper facial/craniofacial fractures after extreme accidents.
The advantage is that with strict adherence to surgical principles, is poses minimal complications during surgery as well as an aesthetic advantage of a hidden scar in the hairline.

Rapunzel syndrome alert! A hairball being extracted through a gastronomy!!
Due to the bulky size of the trichobezoar, the patient underwent exploratory laparotomy, with an incision from the center of the upper abdomen extended vertically along the anterior wall of the stomach, which revealed a stomach completely filled by the large trichobezoar, and a long tail extended through the pylorus and the duodenum into the upper parts of the jejunum. The total length was approximately 25cm, with a weight of over 3000g.
Broadly speaking, a bezoar is a tightly packed collection of indigestible material that is unable to exit the stomach, most being hair-trichobezoars.
Trichobezoar is basically a human hairball that obstructs the gastrointestinal system. It is rare but serious condition and can be fatal and is usually associated with the condition called Trichtotillomania compulsive hair pulling.
Bezoars that extend through the pylorus in the form of a tail into the small bowel are known as the Rapunzel syndrome, which is clearly seen in this case.
They cause potentially life-threatening complications such as intestinal obstruction, gastric bleeding, and perforation and must be removed once the diagnosis is made, especially when they become embedded in the gastric mucosa. Gastric trichobezoars may attain large sizes before becoming symptomatic, causing symptoms and signs of partial or complete gastric outlet obstruction, unless being removed surgically through a midline incision gastrotomy to prevent complications.
