Day 5...this time last week I was in a beautiful pair of red heels ready for my graduation...👠 How things change in a week! I've had quite a stressful week in hospital with a form of Compartment Syndrome and a stress fracture 💔 This is on at the moment, but looks like it's going to be changed to a plaster cast. I am not allowed to put any weight through, which is hard.
This means that I won't be able to run for a few months now, but after a rocky start I've been given a really lovely consultant who is totally focused on getting me back to ultra running as an even better, stronger runner than before. With what I initially went in with, I'm lucky to have the prospect of being able to run again one day and thankfully my treatment has gone to plan so far without needing the "worst case scenario" despite some very scary moments at the start of the week. Obviously I've spent the week on tons of morphine and in a lot of pain, but that is just the biggest relief. These legs will be back on the trails again before I know it, it'll be a long journey, but I'll get there 🙌🏻🏃🏻♀️
I think my Instagram is going to be a LOT of throwback Thursday running photos and a lot of upper body weight training I'm going to have to occupy myself with! Whilst I'm so disappointed to lose this racing season, there's a race that I'd like to aim for and I want to focus on respecting my body, the process, the recovery and coming through this stronger than ever 💫 For the record, although I've had so much pain and a rubbish week, the NHS nurses, HCA's...even the cleaning staff have been absolutely incredible. They've shared tears with me, cups of tea, long chats, made me laugh and looked after me so so well. Amazing people 💞 Can't help but feel a little down, but I'll be all goooood ⭐️ I just want to get home now though! Fingers crossed it won't be long 🤞🏻
