Who wants to go skinny dipping with Michel Roux? Because apparently he has been WELL up for it in his time. And in its nightclub 💃🕺 heyday, when Skindles was replete with swimming facilities, the site of his latest restaurant @rouxatskindles has played witness to this culinary genius in the altogether 😱. At the risk of sounding supremely middle class....such fun!

I was lucky enough to join a little band of passionate local foodies today in a private viewing of the new Taplow brasserie together with Michel and Alain Roux and it was an enormously enjoyable day. These gentlemen haven’t accrued such a wealth of accolades by being slouches in the hospitality department. More than the sophisticated aesthetic and yes, even more than the food, they know how to make guests feel at home. The swearing 🤬 and piss taking certainly helps 😆.
👨🏼‍🍳 Witnessing the repartee, the camaraderie, the shared vision, the (literal) two fingers up 🖕🖕was like sitting at any family table. And that’s what the brasserie experience will deliver. It’s fine food, not fine dining, with comfort classics such as bouillabaisse, moules mariniere, steak frites, coq au vin (autocorrected to gin 🤷‍♀️), it’s instantly recognisable as a different experience to their Michelin establishments and that’s its beauty. Accessibility and as welcome for breakfast or a sharing platter at the bar as a Saturday night out for cocktails, this is designed to be closer to people, a real local hub.

Afternoon tea, hampers for boats, the new cocktail bar and a team who have built their trade and loyalty elsewhere in the family business, it’s bound to be a great combination.

I am home after a wonderful trip through Belgium (we spent some time in Antwerp, a small village called Bousval and the very beautiful Ghent), but I've not quite got back into the swing of cooking – talk about TIRED! So, I've mostly been eating things on toast and catching up on life before I restock the kitchen 💁‍♀️ ...In the meantime, you can enjoy one of my all-time favourite homemade pizza combos – it's got ALL the good things going on: maple syrup candied bacon, roasted butternut squash, sweet cherry tomatoes and a little kick of red chill... all on a silky smooth béchamel sauce base! 🇬🇧 #FittyPastaWeek continues with this lovely and healthy pesto sauce, and let’s be real who doesn’t enjoy a good pesto? This sauce can be so high in calories due to the excessive amount of olive oil! But we have done a healthier version using a secret ingredient that gives it such a creamy flavour - avocado! 🥑
The full tutorial is on our stories. 😋You will need to mix 1/2 avocado, 15cl milk, 1 tbsp olive oil, 1/2 squeezed lemon, salt and pepper, 1 garlic clove, 15g pine nuts, 2 handful spinach and 1 handful fresh basil leaves. You can also add parmesan cheese to your liking. Mix it all up and add it to your favourite pasta with some roasted pine nuts and plum tomatoes 😋. Vous aurez besoin d’1/2 avocat, 15cl de lait, 1 cas d’huile d’olive, 1/2 citron, sel poivre, 1 gousse d’ail, 15g de pignons, 2 poignées d’épinards et basilic. On peut ajouter un extra de parmesan pour le goût! On mixe le tout et on ajoute cette délicieuse sauce à nos pâtes avec quelques pignons et tomates 😋

How many of you have sampled a glass of English wine?

Supporting local and eating seasonally can seem easy with the abundance of great food available to us all over the country. However, (maybe as I’m in Scotland) it seems less easy to come by great wine makers, and if I’m honest.. I hadn’t really given it much though until I came across @winbirri whilst down in Norwich- they’re a Norfolk producer! And what they do produced is award winner quality!

Now let me just mention, I am in no way a wine buff or snob, as a consumer only I just like what I like and thus far have tended to always feel safe drinking a Spanish wine- safe as in I’ll more than likely find it palatable! But ever since I drank this wonderful glass of this Bacchus 2017 White, I’ve been really interested in the distinct apple fresh crispness of an English produced wine. I don’t quite know what make the taste so distinct and delicious, but I’d love to try more!

It reminded me of the only other English wine I’ve ever had from @hushheath which I stumbled upon whilst staying in their pub @thebulllondon years ago! (Which is fabulous FYI) I remember being pleasantly surprised how enjoyably refreshing their sparkling wines are, and enjoyed a taste of a variety whilst there.

I certainly will now be on the look out for more British producers- has anyone else come across any they would recommend? Any in Scotland I should know about?! Where I can buy them? Let me know guys!

2 spoons of mashed flax seeds
2spoons of mashed coconut
Spoon coconut oil or any other vegetable oil
a little of baking powder
Spoon of maple syrup
A little of milk
Mix all ingredients and cook on low fire
For the decoration i used peanut butter and pistachios and chocolates

The best dish here is their Chelo Khoresh Bademjan (aubergine & lamb stew in a tomato base sauce), a must try. The first picture is of the Spicy Koobideh with Rice, which wasn't that great but it was decent, and the second picture is of the Chelo Khoresh Bademjan.⁣⁣

I made this squash, parsnip and apple soup for lunch yesterday and it really hit the spot!
I served it up with some crispy onions to sprinkle on top and my mum's savoury cheese and watercress scones! The sweetness of the soup was well balanced by the saltiness if the scone. -

Making a soup is almost as good as eating one in my opinion. It's a great process with a fantastic reward. This soup came about by using up some left over vegetables in my fridge. I may have to try and make it again though as it was very yummy! -
