Quick snack stop @vikschaat in Berkeley before catching my flight back to Portland. This is Dahi Papdi Chaat with little crackers called papdis, potatoes and garbanzo beans smothered in yogurt and various chutneys. Vik’s is an institution. This family-run business has been serving regional Indian chaats (street foods) for over 20 years. It’s worth a visit. Don’t forget to get a mango or rose lassi! Thanks @jordante for the recommendation! 😋 #vikschaat#indianfood
[LA] Orange chicken, mushroom fries, honey walnut shrimp, stir fried green beans, mapo tofu, spicy eggplant and a table full of American Chinese food at @fatdragonla in Silverlake. MUST ORDER the mushroom fries which looked like fried clams but tasted like crispy crack fries 🍟🍄. We might have kept it on our side of the table. I love orange chicken, but their version seemed not deep fried. Since I never eat orange chicken in Taipei, the guilty pleasure Panda Express crispy version is my preferred kind. This cute little spot is the kind that would be perfect for late night cravings if I were on the east side. Orange chicken is the classic #uglydelicious dish. Anyone else craving it in Taipei?? . . Thanks @firstname.lastname@example.org@friedchickensandwichstudios for the invite! Stop number 4 on their Silverlake food crawl! #hungryintaipeila#hungryintaipeitravels#americanchinesefood#silverlakeeats#orangechicken#fatdragonla
When i was growing up, the family wasn't well to do so Swensen's was a luxury we had during birthdays for their salmon mushroom baked rice and ice cream cakes! It was always a treat because the parents are super stingy hahaha.
I have out-grown their ice cream cakes but I still love their baked rice. Just good decent homely food that reminds me of the days of my youth.
